Gemology is the study of precious stones; where they are found, how they are formed, their physical and optical properties, and how they are identified.
The primary purpose of this site is to bring about an increased involvement of people within the gemological field. In addition, it will hopefully serve as a central location for exchanging: ideas, established information, and cutting edge research from respected laboratories worldwide. While the focus will primarily be upon an exchange of factual information, it will also encompass other aspects of gemology such as the jewelry business, private collections, and other related topics.
